Job Title: Medical Assistant Contract

Position Type: Full-Time / Contract
Hours: 40 hours/week 8 hours/day (Schedules may vary: 8 AM4 PM 10 AM6 PM or 12 PM8 PM)
Job Description:
Navitas Healthcare LLC isseeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team on a contract basis. This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure seamless patient care and efficient office operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs; collect and process specimens
- Assist patients with mobility dressing and transfers
- Take vital signs and prepare patients for exams
- Assist physicians with procedures and examinations
- Set up exam rooms and instruments following proper sterilization techniques
- Maintain logs for medications point-of-care testing sterilization processes and crash carts
- Check expiration dates on medications and supplies and dispose of them properly
- Comply with safety infection control and PPE standards
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments surgeries and procedures
- Maintain patient charts and update demographic/insurance information
- Send/receive medical records lab/x-ray reports and referral information
- Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepare prescription refill requests
- Perform insurance verification and pre-certifications for procedures
- Inventory order and restock medical supplies as needed
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (basic)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Adaptable to a fast-paced evolving healthcare setting
- Knowledge of EMR or billing systems preferred
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course
- BLS Certification (Required AHA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
Work Environment:
- General office and clinical environment
- Light physical activity required including assisting patients with mobility and routine procedures
