Job Summary:
Under general supervision provides comprehensive support services for the preparation and delivery of materials supplies and equipment for chemistry teaching laboratories in accordance with laboratory preparation manuals. Coordinates stockroom window operations including issuing and receiving equipment for students and provides guidance and coordination to federal work study student assistants.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare chemicals and solutions according to laboratory manuals and safety protocols to ensure labs are fully equipped and compliant.
- Distribute set up and retrieve laboratory materials between stockroom and teaching labs to support timely instruction.
- Handle hazardous waste by ensuring proper labeling collection and storage in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain lab readiness by performing minor repairs or coordinating maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Receive and process chemicals and supplies verifying documenting and storing items according to established procedures.
- Coordinate the stockroom service window by issuing and receiving equipment and maintaining accurate transaction records.
- Track equipment usage through check-in/check-out systems and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accountability.
- Coordinate allocation of shared equipment across lab sections to maintain availability and minimize disruption
- Support and coordinate work of federal work-study assistants in lab preparation and stockroom procedures to ensure consistent operations.
- Coordinate distribution and return of lab drawers to maintain inventory control.
- Maintain safety compliance by updating inventory records conducting inspections and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Document and report incidents and replace noncompliant equipment to ensure a safe laboratory environment.
- Participate in safety meetings to stay current with regulations and support continuous improvement.
- Coordinate procurement of chemicals and supplies by obtaining quotes and working with staff to support cost-effective purchasing.
- Monitor and replenish inventory levels to ensure continuous availability of laboratory materials.
- Other classification related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Equivalent to two years of experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline acting as a student assistant or in producing materials or supplies related to the discipline.
OR
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials supplies or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
OR
Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials supplies or equipment and in a related discipline may be substituted for the experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.
Initial salary step placement will be in the range of Step 1 - $4184 to Step 2 - $4268 per month for qualified candidates.
CSU Classification Salary Step Range: $4184 - $6096 per month (Step 1 Step 20)

Work status: Full-time / Non-Exempt / Probationary
Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm) some evenings/weekends.
Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) some evenings/weekends.

Conditions of Employment
Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Drivers License Check
Possession of a valid Drivers License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid drivers license and reflects driving record.
Mandated Reporter
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Cleary Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.
