The Assistant Mens Basketball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a competitive collegiate basketball program. This position contributes to student-athlete development recruitment practice planning game strategy and program administration while ensuring compliance with NCAA conference and institutional regulations. The Assistant Coach plays a vital role in fostering academic success athletic performance and personal development of student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting practices workouts and skill development sessions.
- Provide instruction on individual and team basketball techniques strategies and conditioning.
- Support game preparation including scouting reports and film analysis.
- Contribute to in-game coaching adjustments and decision-making.
- Identify evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes in alignment with program goals.
- Maintain communication with recruits high school coaches and recruiting networks.
- Assist with organizing campus visits and recruitment events.
- Ensure all recruiting activities comply with NCAA and conference regulations.
- Promote academic success personal development and well-being of student-athletes.
- Assist with scheduling practices games and team travel logistics.
- Support equipment management and coordination of team needs.
- Help organize camps clinics and community outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records reports and compliance documentation.
- Ensure adherence to NCAA conference and University policies and procedures.
- Participate in compliance education and required training sessions.
Education
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
- Prior coaching or playing experience in basketball at the high school collegiate or professional level.
- Knowledge of basketball rules strategies and player development techniques.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
- Ability to work evenings weekends and travel as required.
