Computer and Technology Teacher

Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) serves more than 1600 students from PreK12 and is a free open-enrollment public charter school system located in Kansas City Missouri. Over 97% of our students identify as Latinx and many are bilingual or English learners. Our network includes Guadalupe Centers Elementary School Guadalupe Centers Middle School and Guadalupe Centers High School.

GCCS grew out of Guadalupe Centers educational programs part of the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the United States since 1919. Summary

The Computer and Technology Teacher is responsible for delivering standards-aligned instruction in digital literacy computer science fundamentals and instructional technology integration. This role supports both student learning and staff development by promoting effective safe and responsible use of technology in alignment with Missouri Learning Standards and DESE expectations. The teacher fosters a learning environment that prepares students to be digitally literate innovative and responsible users of technology.

Reports To:Building Principal

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in digital literacy computer applications and technology integration.
  • Teach students foundational skills in word processing presentations spreadsheets digital research and responsible technology use.
  • Integrate technology into instruction to support core content areas and enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilize district-approved platforms (e.g. Google Workspace learning management systems) to support instruction and communication.
  • Support students in developing skills aligned to technology-based assessments required by the district and state.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners including small group and individualized support.
  • Provide professional development and ongoing support to staff on instructional technology tools and best practices.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate digital resources aligned to curriculum and instructional goals.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom technology and support basic technical issues as needed.
  • Promote digital citizenship online safety and ethical use of technology.
  • Collaborate with teachers instructional staff and leadership to support technology integration across grade levels.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in technology-related competencies.
  • Stay current on instructional technology trends tools and research-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and fulfill all professional responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of instructional technology tools and digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to integrate technology into core instruction effectively.
  • Strong classroom management skills in both traditional and technology-rich environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to train and support adult learners (staff) effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues.
  • Commitment to serving diverse and underserved student populations.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Education Educational Technology Computer Science or a related field.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certificate (required); certification in Educational Technology or related field preferred.
  • Candidates must meet Missouri DESE certification requirements or be eligible for certification.
  • Experience in an urban school setting preferred.
  • Experience teaching computer applications or integrating instructional technology preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand walk and move throughout the classroom and school for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to operate and demonstrate use of technology equipment.
  • Ability to supervise students in classroom and computer lab settings.
