Job Title: Concession General Manager
Reporting To: General Manager Lodges
Function: Operations
Overview Our client in the travel and tourism industry is looking for an experienced and dynamic Concession General Manager to oversee the full operational financial and strategic performance of a portfolio of remote camps within a concession. This role requires a hands-on leader who will spend the majority of their time on-site ensuring exceptional guest experiences operational excellence environmental compliance and strong community engagement.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership -
Oversee the day-to-day operations of all camps within the concession ensuring alignment with established standards and strategic objectives.

Spend approximately 70% of time in the field supporting and monitoring camp operations.

Ensure all administrative processes are effectively implemented including stock control procurement and month-end procedures.

Provide operational support and relief management where required.

Produce regular operational and performance reports.
Asset & Infrastructure Management -
Ensure the proper management maintenance and protection of all assets and infrastructure.

Implement preventative maintenance programs and oversee capital projects.
-
Establish systems for asset tracking accountability and lifecycle management.
Financial Management -
Take full accountability for the financial performance of the concession.

Develop manage and monitor budgets ensuring cost control and efficiency.
-
Approve expenditures and forecast future financial requirements.
-
Participate in financial reviews and report on monthly and annual performance.
People Management & Development -
Lead workforce planning to ensure optimal staffing levels across camps.

Oversee recruitment selection and onboarding in collaboration with HR.
-
Drive employee engagement welfare and performance management processes.
-
Mentor and support camp leadership teams ensuring continuous development.

Ensure compliance with HR policies procedures and performance appraisal systems.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence -
Maintain overall responsibility for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Continuously evaluate and elevate service standards across all camps.
-
Respond to guest and agent feedback promptly and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Collaborate with support teams to develop and implement new service initiatives.
Environmental Health & Safety Compliance -
Ensure full compliance with environmental health and safety standards across all operations.

Drive implementation and continuous improvement of sustainability and environmental practices.
-
Monitor compliance through regular site visits and audits.
-
Ensure all incidents are properly recorded and managed.
Maintenance & Project Management -
Plan and execute short- and long-term maintenance and development projects.

Work closely with technical teams to deliver infrastructure improvements.
-
Support environmental management initiatives and ensure adherence to sustainability timelines.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement -
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including local communities and partners.

Ensure alignment with social responsibility and community engagement strategies.
-
Collaborate with internal teams to implement community initiatives effectively.
Brand Representation & Hosting -
Act as a brand ambassador at all times.

Host key stakeholders including guests agents and media ensuring seamless experiences.

Communicate brand values sustainability initiatives and unique offerings effectively.
Strategic Impact & Sustainability Leadership -
Drive awareness and implementation of conservation and community-focused initiatives.

Ensure camp leadership effectively communicates sustainability efforts to guests and staff.
-
Identify and support partnerships that enhance environmental and social impact.
Environmental Compliance & Standards Oversight -
Ensure strict adherence to environmental management standards across all camps.

Monitor resource usage waste management and sustainability practices.
-
Oversee training and accountability for environmentally responsible operations.
-
Address environmental risks and implement corrective measures where required.
Qualifications & Experience -
Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management Business Administration or related field.

Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior management role within the hospitality industry.
-
Proven experience in lodge or camp management preferably within remote environments.
-
Strong operational and financial management experience.
-
Technical knowledge of infrastructure and maintenance operations is advantageous.
-
Guiding experience is beneficial but not essential.
-
Willingness and ability to travel extensively and spend significant time in remote locations.
