Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Auto Electrician / Technician with strong drill rig experience to oversee electrical maintenance troubleshooting and reliability of drilling equipment. The role involves working on both blast hole and exploration rigs ensuring optimal performance safety compliance and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform installation inspection maintenance and repair of electrical systems on drill rigs and support equipment
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on blast hole and exploration rigs
• Maintain and repair auxiliary equipment (service trucks light vehicles etc.)

2. Equipment Expertise

• Work extensively on Sandvik Blast Hole rigs and similar equipment
• Utilize OEM diagnostic tools and systems
• Ensure high-quality repairs and system reliability

3. Supervision & Leadership

• Supervise electricians mechanics and welders
• Allocate work monitor performance and ensure timely completion
• Provide training coaching and mentorship

4. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with mining and electrical safety standards
• Conduct risk assessments and enforce LOTO procedures
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions

5. Maintenance & Asset Management

• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules
• Improve equipment availability and reduce downtime
• Support spare parts planning and inventory control

6. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain maintenance logs and inspection reports
• Document breakdowns and root cause analysis
• Support audits and compliance reporting

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years experience as an Auto Electrician on drill rigs (mandatory)
• 68 years experience working on Sandvik Blast Hole rigs or similar
• Experience with both blast hole and exploration rigs (required)

Education & Certification:

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• MINCOM Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid Certification

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems on drill rigs
• Experience with Sandvik diagnostic systems
• Solid understanding of CAN Bus systems
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Preventive maintenance and fault-finding expertise
• Valid drivers license
