About the Role:

Our client a leading provider of drilling support services within the mining exploration industry is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance reliability and performance of heavy drilling equipment and machinery operations in Ghana.

This role is responsible for leading all maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment availability operational efficiency and safety compliance across drilling operations. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in mining or drilling equipment maintenance combined with proven leadership capabilities in managing maintenance teams within demanding mining environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Strategy & Planning

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies aligned with operational goals
• Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and lifespan
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with operations teams to minimize operational downtime
• Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

• Oversee inspections diagnostics repairs and servicing of drilling equipment and heavy machinery
• Ensure effective troubleshooting and timely resolution of equipment failures
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to support maintenance activities
• Coordinate with OEMs suppliers and contractors for specialized repairs and technical support

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and supervisors across operations
• Foster a strong culture of safety accountability teamwork and operational excellence
• Provide coaching training and performance management for maintenance personnel
• Allocate manpower and resources effectively to support 24/7 operational requirements

Health Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Ensure compliance with mining industry health safety and environmental regulations
• Conduct regular safety inspections audits and risk assessments
• Promote and enforce safe work practices across all maintenance activities
• Drive safety awareness and continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance team

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Monitor and analyze maintenance performance data downtime trends and repair costs
• Prepare regular maintenance reports and performance dashboards
• Utilize maintenance analytics to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency
• Support budgeting and cost-control initiatives related to maintenance operations

Systems & Asset Management

• Oversee the effective use of CMMS and asset management systems
• Support implementation and optimization of maintenance technologies and digital tools
• Maintain accurate maintenance records documentation and compliance reports
• Ensure proper utilization of ERP and reporting systems to support maintenance operations

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 1015 years experience in maintenance management within mineral exploration drilling operations
• Strong experience maintaining heavy drilling equipment and mining machinery
• Previous experience within Ghana or West Africa is highly preferred
• Solid knowledge of drilling equipment such as EDM AUSTEX SANDVIK and SCHRAMM systems
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams
• Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies
• Familiarity with CMMS ERP systems (e.g. Sage) asset management and condition monitoring tools
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Willingness to work in remote mining environments and demanding operational schedules
