Job Summary
Float Nurse - 9 month position
Start Date: 08/06/26
Full-time Float Nurse position providing direct care to students across the Shelby County School School District. Must have flexible hours to assist with providing care outside of school hours when needed.
Qualifications:
- Hold a current Alabama License for Associate Degree in nursing (ADN) Bachelors Degree in nursing (BSN) or Practical Nursing (LPN).
- Clinical nursing experience with school age children in the hospital community health or pediatric clinic desired.
- Clinical nursing skills necessary to provide safe care to students with special health care needs.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with administration nursing supervisor faculty parents and students.
- Ability to demonstrate complete accurate and timely documentation of health services rendered.
- Possess current CPR certification.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports to: Principal Student Services Coordinator Nurse Supervisor
Job Goal: Provision of school health services to students and serve as a liaison between the school the medical community and other agencies involved in the health and welfare of students.
Terms of Employment: Nine month contract (187 days).
