Company Overview

Our client is a well-established insurance carrier with a strong reputation for underwriting excellence and long-term agency partnerships. They are seeking a Business Development Specialist to support their western PA market. The goal for this person is to book 20 appointments per year by holding in-person visits or Teams meetings with agency partners. A company vehicle will be provided. This is a market-entry specialist responsible for launching and growing the companys independent agency distribution in western PA. This role is highly focused on identifying and recruiting high-potential agencies that align with the companys underwriting appetite and growth objectives. The BDS will manage the full appointment lifecycle from prospecting and relationship-building through contracting and onboarding ensuring new agents are trained and equipped for immediate success. Ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments and bring a willingness to learn and coachability.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research to identify and prioritize high-potential agency partners in new states with a targeted focus on data driven geographical areas
  • Lead outreach prospecting and vetting of prospective agency appointments and meet yearly new appointment goals within targeted counties by following accurate agency appointment procedures
  • Establish and monitor agency performance by setting early-state production goals and developing annual business plans
  • Monitor production and support agency partners to reach performance goals with a tailored approach based on each individual agent operations promoting a positive Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Provide feedback on product pricing and service alignment in new markets
  • Report regularly on territory activity pipeline development and performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business marketing insurance or related field; Insurance designations preferred
  • Company Marketing Agency Underwriting Sales experience
  • Strong background in sales prospecting and agency relationship development in new or emerging markets
  • Familiarity with P&C regulatory environments and agency appointment processes
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and planning skills
  • Proficiency in CRM tools Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel extensively especially in newly targeted regions
  • Established agency relationships within their respective state
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation:

  • $65000 - $85000/year (based on experience)
