13.47 - 13.68 per hour

Location: Copse Road Depot Fleetwood

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

Wyre Council is seeking a hardworking and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to support the delivery of essential frontline environmental services across the borough. This is a key operational role within our Street Cleansing service helping to keep Wyre clean safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.

You will be responsible for driving HGV vehicles as well as undertaking a range of street cleansing and general labouring duties. The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and providing a visible professional presence within local communities.

What Youll Do

  • Drive and operate HGV and other service vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out mechanised street cleansing bin emptying and general cleaning duties.
  • Provide direction and support to colleagues working alongside the vehicle.
  • Respond to environmental issues including the removal and safe disposal of flytipped waste.
  • Undertake general labouring and loading duties associated with street cleansing operations.
  • Maintain a vigilant presence across the borough to help deter environmental crime and antisocial behaviour.
  • Operate equipment plant and machinery in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Act professionally and courteously when always dealing with members of the public.

What Were Looking For

Essential:

  • A current valid HGV class 2 (C) driving licence.
  • Previous experience working in a street cleaning street scene or similar operational environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety at work and safe working practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Physically able to undertake outdoor manual duties.
  • A flexible approach to working hours including weekends and bank holidays.
