Description of Work

The primary purpose of this Administrative Specialist I position is to provide secretarial support for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. This person is supervised by the District Rehabilitation Supervisor. This position is critical in providing services to consumers in each program in a timely and efficient manner. This position serves as a vital link for communication between the Vocational Rehabilitation Program counselors consumers physicians postsecondary institutions employers and addition the processing assistant will answer the phones and direct calls to the proper individual. The processing assistant must be constantly aware of operational goals of both the Vocational Rehabilitation Program and Independent Living Program in order to assist callers to find the source for their questions. This requires maintaining contact by phone mail and in person with Medical Providers social workers for the Blind vendors and other customers in order to convey information material and messages. This staff member will also assist the District Rehabilitation Supervisor with information and/or will complete tasks as required by the DRS. The processing assistant must use good judgment discretion and good secretarial skills in order to assist the Counselors in case of emergency. The processing assistant in this position must also possess the knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. The position will provide support for adult and transition students in Cumberland County.

Salary Range: $39244 - $68679

Recruitment Range: $39244 - $49000

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience working with general office equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience having proficient computer skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service

This position is funded in part through federal funds.

This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.

The Division of Services for the Blind provides services to people who are visually impaired blind and deaf-blind to help them reach their goals of independence and employment.
