Department Overview
Position Summary
This position has organizational wide management responsibilities as a key risk manager for the system This role provides guidance and best practice in the areas of high-risk patient situations including patient and family events device malfunctions staff investigations and risk assessments on specific organizational risk exposure. Responsible for the creation and delivery of training and large group presentations. Day to day resource to clinicians/hospital staff relevant to risk issues. Manages Family Liaison function providing strategic program and process development as well as operational day to day management including process development training and incident trends. This role will also be responsible for assisting with medical device recall environment of care assessments and general liability claims.
Education:
* Bachelors Degree in Nursing Social Work or other healthcare related field required
Masters level degree or juris doctorate preferred.
Experience:
*Hospital or Clinic work experience required excellent verbal/written communication skills; ability to work with families of patients with complex psycho social issues; ability to work in a team; excellent computer skills.
* 5-7 years experience in hospital or clinic setting with staff management experience including process improvement and training development and delivery.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Provides both strategic program and operational management to the Family Liaison function with the Family Liaison roles as direct reports.
* Primary focus on risk assessment and guidance on all family issues complaints safety/harm cases.
* Provides guidance on all adoption and surrogacy issues within the Childrens system.
* Manages risk events involving families patient safety or harm via connection with Clinical Risk Manager insurance claims and outside legal counsel.
* Understands and maintains knowledge of both Federal and State regulations and laws.
* Track and document incidents and prepare trend reporting on incidents.
* Creates and documents all departmental processes.
* Creates and facilitates training for clinical and family relations staff and departments.
* Work on call carry pager to provide coverage to various shifts of operation.
* Evaluate and prioritize multiple and often competing demands.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employees scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.
In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
