Job Summary

Anticipated SY2627 Spanish Dual Language Kindergarten Teacher

DESCRIPTION:
The Spanish Dual Language Kindergarten teacher is responsible for utilizing research-basedpedagogical strategies to teach and engage a diverse group of students within the dualimmersion program. The Spanish Dual Language Immersion Kindergarten Teacher delivershigh-quality standards-aligned instruction exclusively in Spanish to support students
development of bilingualism biliteracy and cross-cultural competence. The teacher usesresearch-based practices to engage diverse learners in a dual language setting andcollaborates closely with Special Education ESL and tandem partner teachers as well assupport staff to ensure equitable access to curriculum and strong student outcomes.

Teachers should be well-versed in providing accommodations for students whose IEPs requireinclusion services across several content-area settings. Teachers should also be well-versed inSheltered English Instruction (SEI) practices best practices for dual language instruction andbiliteracy and WIDA language standards to support language development. Teachers shouldhave experience and/or training implementing phonics instruction and assessments. Teachersmust exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.


REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood
Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
Bilingual Education Endorsement
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish


PREFERRED REQUIREMENT:
Masters Degree in Education and/or Special Education
3 or more years of early childhood teaching experience
Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
Experience working in an urban public school setting
Coursework in Phonics Instruction and/or Applied Linguistics
Experience in a dual language school and/or teaching in Spanish

DUTIES:
Plan and facilitate lessons aligned with State Standards for Math ELA Social StudiesScience Writing and Phonics/Fluency predominantly in Spanish.
Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to createengaging lessons and supports that are aligned with 21st-century skills and remoteaccessibility.

Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivatestudents and limit disruptions
Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self-confidence team-building and informed decision-making.
Utilize inclusive practices best practices for dual language instruction in Spanish andSEI strategies for English Learners strategies that support biliteracy and implementWIDA frameworks to develop language skills.
Incorporate language activities in Spanish into content instruction including SpeakingReading and Writing that align with State Standards for Language Proficiency.
Administer assessments in Spanish and utilize available data to make instructionaldecisions that target the academic and linguistic needs of students including MCAS andACCESS as well as DIBELS and other phonics oral and writing formative
assessments. assessments.
Collaborate and co-plan with Special Education ESL teachers and partner tandemteacher to provide the highest quality instruction and support for all students includingSpecial Education Students and English Learners.
Proctor assessments for students in grades K-8 on exams including MCAS DIBELSand ACCESS based on building needs.
Communicate with student families regularly using culturally responsive strategies thatfoster two-way communication.
Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development relevant tothe challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps.
Collaborate with guidance counselors to refer students who are in need of social-emotional support.
Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPsand ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered.
Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events as assigned by the Principal andAssistant Principal.

Salary:
Salary for this position will be based on the Everett Teachers Association Collective BargainingAgreement. -SY 26-27 Pay Range - $65178-$125654.
