Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
  • Valid FHSAA certification.
  • Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education experience and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Valid Florida Drivers License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level.
  • Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the sports rules techniques and safety practices.
  • Strong communication organization and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff parents and community partners.
  • Ability to work evenings weekends and during school breaks as needed.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Plan organize and conduct regular practice sessions.
  • Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
  • Teach fundamental skills techniques and sports rules to student-athletes.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices games and school-sponsored trips.
  • Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics.
  • Promote discipline responsibility and good sportsmanship among players.
  • Ensure compliance with school district and state athletic regulations.
  • Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms.
  • Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling budget and facility use.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
  • Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
