Role Summary
The purpose of the role is to help ensure and enhance the achievement of students within individual classrooms and the building overall. As a leader within a building this role participates in the development and enhancement of a school-wide culture that promotes professional growth and student learning. Instructional coaches are not limited to one subject area.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Assist and support staff with the implementation of research-based instructional strategies through planning modeling and observational feedback
- Assist teacher/collaborative teams in analysis of student data - formative and summative
- Duties include serving on Building Leadership Team (BLT) for building assigned coach
- Support collaborative teams as they work through the four critical questions of the PLC process
- Assist in the development of student learning goals based on individual and class data
- Assist teachers with the development of formative and summative assessments aligned to standards and instruction
- Assist teachers in developing and utilizing standards-based lessons designed to increase student engagement and learning
- Co-teach to support and model for classroom teachers
- Support teachers with the integration of technology use in the classroom
- Assist individual classroom teachers in gathering information or providing requested feedback on implementation of strategies through non-evaluative observations and conversations
- Support teachers in creating and maintaining systems for communicating student goals successes and methods to the community and parents
- Assist in the planning for curriculum adoption and the design development and delivery of professional development
- Design and deliver professional development aligned to district/building needs/goals
- Establish and demonstrates positive human relations with students parents other staff members and the community.
- Maintain professional growth that meets district and team expectations as well as personal/professional goals.
- Collaborate with other instructional coaches and district leaders on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Job experience and Role Requirements
- Hold an Iowa Standard Teaching License Permanent Professional License or higher
- Evidence of commitment to continual professional growth
- Participate in district training prior to start of role
- Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience under contract with at least one (1) of those years in the Cedar Falls Community School District
- Teaching experience in multiple grade levels and/or multiple districts preferred
- Proficient in subject-matter content instructional techniques and assessment
- Confident and proficient user of technology
- Able to develop and sustain close professional interpersonal relationships with adults
- High integrity
- Ability to earn and maintain the trust of others
- Understand and able to apply principles of adult learning growth and development
- Ability to deliver and receive descriptive constructive direct feedback to peers
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Small group facilitation skills
- Training design development and delivery skills
