JOB TITLE: Medicaid Specialist
EXEMPT: No
GRADE: 116
LOCATION: District Office
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month
REPORTS TO: SPED Director
SUMMARY: To ensure the efficient operation of the Exceptional Student Services Office and processes pertaining to Medicaid billing so that the department can make its maximum contributions to District-wide special education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma GED or equivalent
- Health related education and experience
- Minimum three years job-related experience
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to operate computer and utilize software e.g. Microsoft Office suite Google drive suite
- Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- AA degree or Post High School education in related fields
- 2-years experience in medical billing health office or medical related field
- Previous experience in a public-school clerical position
- Accounting related education or experience
- Bilingual/biliterate in both Spanish and English

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains and updates all MEDICAID files forms and databases meeting all prescribed quality and time requirements
- Coordinates/provides all MEDICAID required training including documentation of that training
- Supports the other special services secretaries with all special education office services to include but not limited to preparing/updating files entering data on special education related databases answering phones receiving/sending special education records etc.
- Attends meetings as may be required for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information
- Child Find Support with appointment scheduling and communication with parents/families
- CPR/First-Aid documentation and record keeping
- Monitoring early childhood tracking system for the AZ Dept. Of Education
- Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Skills are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: performing standard clerical procedures; utilizing standard office equipment; and utilizing pertinent software.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: pertinent codes policies regulations and/or laws.
Ability is required to schedule a significant number of activities meetings and/or events; routinely gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific job-related working with others independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; making decisions independently; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; and maintaining detailed records.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the Organizations services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine-finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting 15% walking and 15% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and hazard-free environment and in varying atmospheric conditions.
