Sr Risk Manager Refined Products

Our client is seeking a seasoned Risk Manager to oversee and build out the risk function for their Supply & Trading desk. This role will focus on managing daily risk processes P&L and MTM reporting position analysis and providing insight to traders accounting and leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience in crude and refined products trading a strong understanding of hedging and risk metrics and the ability to implement controls while building a high-performing risk function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day risk operations for the Supply & Trading desk including monitoring positions P&L MTM and risk metrics.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for traders accounting and leadership on risk-related inquiries.
• Build and refine risk reporting processes including leveraging system-generated reports and implementing enhancements where needed.
• Strategize on positions and risk impact providing actionable insights and recommendations.
• Implement controls and risk management frameworks to ensure compliance and operational soundness.
• Collaborate with leadership to define and expand the risk function including potential coverage of additional products such as natural gas.
• Continuously assess processes and systems (Allegro-based) to optimize reporting analysis and risk visibility.
• Support the future development of a risk team as the desk grows.

Required Experience / Skills:

• Proven experience in risk management within crude and refined products trading.
• Strong understanding of hedging trading positions and risk metrics.
• Hands-on experience with P&L MTM and risk reporting.
• Ability to implement operational controls and process improvements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to interact effectively with traders leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Self-starter capable of executing independently and hitting the ground running.
• Familiarity with Allegro ETRM or similar trading/risk platforms preferred.
• Comfortable building processes and defining best practices in a growing trading organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience overseeing or building a risk desk or team.
• Exposure to multiple commodity classes (crude refined products natural gas).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with trading systems and reporting automation.
