Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Safely handle restrain and comfort patients during examinations treatments and procedures
Prepare exam rooms treatment areas and surgical spaces before and after use
Assist veterinarians and technicians with medical procedures as directed
Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes or concerns to the medical team
Administer medications and treatments as permitted by training and state regulations
Accurately document patient care activities as instructed
Hospital Maintenance & Sanitation
Clean and disinfect exam rooms treatment areas kennels and equipment according to hospital protocols
Maintain laundry waste disposal and biohazard procedures
Stock and organize supplies ensuring availability of necessary materials
Assist with equipment care and basic maintenance
Client Interaction & Support
Provide compassionate professional assistance to clients during visits
Support client flow by escorting patients answering basic questions and relaying information to appropriate team members
Demonstrate empathy and professionalism especially during emotionally sensitive situations
Client Service & Front Desk Support
Answer phones professionally schedule appointments and route calls appropriately
Provide courteous compassionate service to clients in person and over the phone
Assist with client checkin/checkout and relay messages to the medical team
Support front desk coverage during busy periods or staffing gaps
Communicate basic hospital information and appointment flow as directed
This role is primarily clinical; however Veterinary Assistants are expected to assist with client service and front desk duties as needed.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with veterinarians technicians CSRs and management
Follow established SOPs safety protocols and hospital policies
Participate in training meetings and continuing education as required
Maintain a positive respectful and teamoriented work environment
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to safely handle animals of various sizes temperaments and medical conditions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Dependability attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fastpaced clinical environment
Preferred
Previous experience working with animals (veterinary shelter kennel or similar setting)
Veterinary assistant training or certification
Familiarity with basic veterinary terminology and hospital workflows
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand walk bend and lift for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 4050 pounds with or without assistance
Ability to safely restrain animals as needed
Tolerance for exposure to noise odors and animal bodily fluids
Work Environment
Fastpaced veterinary hospital setting
Exposure to animals that may be stressed ill or fractious
Occasional exposure to anesthetic gases cleaning chemicals and medical equipment

Represent the hospital professionally to clients and the community
