Job Description:
Maintain coordinate and participate in NFREC-Quincy center-wide pesticide recordkeeping perform computer-oriented duties for farm office and center records.
Apply pesticides and fertilizers to research plots and center grounds. Calibrate sprayers fertilizer spreaders and handheld boom sprayers.
Serve as lead for lower-level farm crew when assigned.
Perform field and greenhouse work: planting maintaining and harvesting research crops.
Operate a variety of farm equipment including state vehicles for land preparation planting spraying and harvesting of research plots and center grounds.
Implement research projects with each program as necessary implement and coordinate sampling of farm research blocks for ph readings and aid in performing laboratory procedures using a variety of laboratory equipment.
Assist with various activities associated with field days as needed.
Expected Salary:
$18.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:

The selected candidate must obtain a pesticide applicator license within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred:
Proficiency in the operation of computers (familiarity with Windows OS Microsoft Office) and computer-related tasks.
Ability to perform basic agricultural skills.
Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance and repairs on farm machinery.
Prior experience with GPS-assisted equipment operation.
Ability to work in hot humid environments and cold environments in winter.
Ability to work well with others in a team situation.
Ability to prioritize and organize tasks as assigned.
Ability to record data accurately.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with colleagues.
