Primary Purpose: The campus instructional specialist will work with students to ensure mastery of curriculum standards; provide instructional coaching in best practice; interpret and analyze data; and deliver professional learning to adult learners.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree
- Masters degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Knowledge of balanced literacy design and implementation
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
- Knowledge of district curriculum
- Knowledge of TEKS standards and assessments
- Ability to develop and provide professional learning to adult learners
- Ability to interpret data and use it to impact student learning
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or their designee may find appropriate and acceptable.
Experience:
- Three years successful teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support student learning by providing Tier I Tier II and Tier III instruction as needed
- Provide tutoring for state assessments
- Provide student tutoring to fulfill HB1416 hour requirements
- Track HB 1416 hours as needed
- Works with and positively impacts disadvantaged children from impoverished backgrounds through assisting the teachers in modeling effective research- based teaching strategies.
- Coach teachers to examine student work to check for understanding and compare relationships of the material with the TEKS standards formative assessments and summative assessments
- Demonstrate effective coaching and guidance skills to inspire both respect and trust of the principals teachers and other colleagues
- Provide extensive focus on balanced literacy (guided reading and writing) and guided math using the guidelines set forth by the district and the adopted curriculum.
- Facilitate model and co-teach effective instructional strategies that foster active student engagement and learning
- Lead teacher meetings and study groups to coach teachers on how to effectively use the district curriculum documents and emphasize the TEKS standards and assessment issues
- Use data to inform and direct instructionally supported professional development including performance on the states accountability system and district performance data
- Provide feedback to Academics staff and campus principal regarding curriculum use to monitor efforts and report progress toward goals
- Work with the district academic coordinators of core subject areas to meet campus needs and facilitate communication of those needs with the campus
- Improve knowledge and leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities and participate in professional development activities as directed
- Perform duties in a professional ethical and responsible manner as defined in the TEA code of Ethics for Educators and District Handbook
- All other duties as assigned
