Job Summary
Roles and Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
Direct all accounting functions including Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Payroll and General Ledger maintenance.
Prepare and issuetimelymonthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
Manage the monthly close processensuringall balance sheet accounts are reconciled and P&L discrepancies are corrected.
Coordinate with external CPA firms for annual audits reviews and tax preparation.
Project Accounting & Cost Control
Develop andmaintainsophisticated work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Oversee labor burden calculations and ensureaccurateoverhead absorption across all projects.
Partner with project managers to review budget-to-actual variances andidentifypotentialslippageearly in the project lifecycle.
Manage subcontractor compliance including lien waivers insurance certificates and payment cycles.
Treasury & Risk Management
Monitor daily cash flow and develop long-term cash forecasting models.
Manage banking relationships and oversee credit facilities or revolving lines of credit.
Ensure rigorous internal controls are in place to protect company assets and prevent fraud.
Oversee business insurance programs including general liability workers compensation and bonding requirements.
Strategic Planning & Systems
Lead the annual budgeting process and provide rolling forecasts.
Utilize andoptimizeconstruction-specific ERP systems ( Sage or Vista) to improve data integrity and reporting speed.
Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) focused on liquidity profitability and operational efficiency.
Document and enforce formal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all financial workflows.
Qualifications:
Education:Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; MBA or CPA designation is highly preferred.
Experience: 7 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the commercial construction industry.
TechnicalSkills: *Deep understanding of GAAP as it relates to construction (Percentage of Completion).
Proficiencyin construction management software and advanced Excel modeling.
Experience managing complex labor burden and indirect cost allocations.
Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail strong ethical compass and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business advice.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands tooperatecomputer keyboardtelephoneand basic office equipment.
