Job Summary

Job Title: Elem Gifted/Talented Certied Classroom Teacher

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Advanced Academic Services Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale

Dept. /School: Advanced Academic Services Days: 187

Primary Purpose:

Provide specialized instruction for identified gifted and talented students through a pull-out model while supporting alignment between advanced academic curriculum and Tier I classroom instruction. Build coherence between gifted services and campus instructional practices through collaboration professional learning and data-informed decision-making and contribute to extended learning opportunities to ensure rigorous aligned experiences for advanced academic students in accordance with district priorities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certicate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
  • Must obtain the TEA/Gifted (GT) certicate/endorsement within one year of serving as a Gifted/Talented Program Teacher

Special Knowledge Skills:

  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • Minimum three years experience preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide direct instruction to identified gifted and talented students in Grades 35 and elementary 6th grade through a service model aligned to the districts Advanced Academic Services framework.
  • Design and implement rigorous differentiated learning experiences that promote advanced academic thinking creativity and problem-solving.
  • Implement the AVID WICOR instructional framework within GT instruction to support high-quality learning experiences and align with district instructional expectations.
  • Utilize EduHub and district-adopted HQIM to ensure aligned accessible curriculum resources and reduce redundancy between GT and Tier I instruction.
  • Ensure alignment between GT pull-out curriculum and Tier I classroom instruction including collaboration with classroom teachers to connect learning experiences expectations and student outcomes.
  • Support alignment of curriculum instruction and assessment systems (YAGs unit overviews and common assessments) to district expectations.
  • Engage in Strategic PLCs to analyze student performance data monitor growth and inform instructional decisions for advanced academic learners.
  • Use multiple sources of student data to plan and adjust instruction ensuring appropriate challenge extension and acceleration.
  • Support MTSS structures for advanced academic and gifted learners ensuring extensions enrichment and acceleration are aligned to student needs and performance data.
  • Participate in Data Tours and instructional walkthroughs to gather evidence of instructional practices and contribute to actionable next steps for improvement.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers through coaching modeling and classroom support to strengthen differentiation and advanced academic strategies within Tier I instruction.
  • Engage in and support professional learning opportunities including contributing to campus and district professional development related to gifted and advanced academic practices.
  • Collaborate across campuses and departments to ensure coherence of systems resources and instructional practices aligned to district priorities.
  • Support consistent implementation of district initiatives to strengthen system-wide effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Support and participate in extended learning opportunities including Saturday programming and Summer Enrichment (Camp SIP) to provide enriched and accelerated experiences for advanced academic students.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students parents and staff regarding student progress program expectations and instructional practices.
  • Maintain required documentation records and compliance measures related to gifted and talented services.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain GT certification and remain current in best practices for advanced academic instruction.
  • Comply with all district state and federal policies procedures and expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with district and Academics & Accountability priorities.
