Job Summary

Coaching positions require work prior to the actual OSAA season. All preseason work is included in the stipend that will be paid as outlined in the HR Coaches Agreement.

COMPENSATION:Stipend amount$8589.42 paid at the end of the OSAA season.

SUMMARY:Toencourage and support each KU Student-Athlete in achieving a high level of skill and athleticism developing an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and promoting an increased level of self-esteem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Emphasises the importance for all ofour KU Student-Athletes to be Character-Driven Academically-Focused and Consistently Competitive;
  • Builds a comprehensive year-round program that facilitates athlete and program growth;
  • Contributesas a supervising coachfor theKU Summer and Off-Season Strength & Conditioningprogram;
  • Promotes multi-sport athletes and supportsall KU sports and activities;
  • Actively recruits potentialathletes who arenot involved in anotherin-season sport;
  • Models responsible behavior on and off the court;
  • Maintains accurate statistics records and results of the season;
  • Establishes and oversees clear behavior expectations and guidelines and holds our student-athletes accountable;
  • Maintains competency in the rules procedures coaching techniques and general informationabout the sport;
  • Builds a responsible and dedicated coachingstaff to support the needs of the team;
  • Works closely with theKU Athletic Director in regards to:
    • Creating a clear vision for the future of the program;
    • Building the annual competition schedule;
    • Recommending equipmentand supply purchases;
    • Distributing tracking and collecting uniforms;
    • Maintaining accurate attendanceand grade reports to hold our student-athletes accountable;
    • Managing team fundraising efforts;
    • Developing a consistent communicationssystem to inform playersparents and the general public about program details;
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends and supervises all program-related activities;
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the playing facilities;
  • Reports directly to the KU Athletic Director regarding any concerns relating to KU Athletics.
