We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring Drama Teacher to join a thriving Creative Arts faculty in Southend-on-Sea. Set against the backdrop of Essexs vibrant coastline famous for the worlds longest pleasure pier and a bustling cultural scene (including the Cliffs Pavilion and Palace Theatre) this school offers a fantastic spotlight for a dedicated practitioner. We are looking for an educator who can champion the power of performance to develop empathy voice and critical thinking.
Core Responsibilities
Pedagogical Excellence: Planning and delivering high-energy practical and theoretical lessons across KS3 KS4 and KS5 with a focus on GCSE and A-Level Drama & Theatre Studies.
Performance Direction: Leading directing and producing high-quality whole-school productions showcase evenings and community arts festivals.
Practitioner Theory: Guiding students through the study and practical application of key practitioners including Stanislavski Brecht Artaud and Frantic Assembly.
Curriculum Innovation: Crafting an inclusive curriculum that explores diverse playwrights physical theatre devising and script analysis.
Exam Mastery: Mentoring examination cohorts through the AQA Edexcel or Eduqas specifications ensuring students excel in both their practical performance exams and written analytical papers.
Technical Integration: Introducing students to lighting sound design stage management and set design to provide a holistic view of the theatre industry.

Candidate Profile

Pedagogy: A proven track record of facilitating strong student progress and the ability to inspire confidence in performers of all skill levels.
Character: A charismatic energetic and highly organised educator who can manage the logistics of rehearsals while creating a safe inclusive space for students to express themselves.
