Pay Grade: Admin/Professional 4

MINIMUM SALARY: $81977
DUTY DAYS: 230 days per year


PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Bilingual /ESL Compliance Coordinator will ensure provisions of services for Emergent Bilingual students in meeting the federal state and local guidelines. Designs and conducts program audits prepares reports supervises school level reporting as well as record keeping procedures and assist school administrators with school-level programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from accredited university Masters Degree preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with ESL certification/endorsement

Special Knowledge/Skills Preferred:

  • Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide programs
  • Knowledge of federal/state mandates and compliance issues
  • Ability to interpret policy procedures and data
  • Knowledge of best instructional practices and varied needs of Emergent Bilinguals
  • Ability to implement changes based on program review
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with bilingual parents and students in both English and Spanish
  • Successful leadership and professional staff development experience pertaining to Emergent Bilinguals
  • Strong technology skills
  • Commitment to professional growth learning and serves as an effective professional role model

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience in an ESL classroom
  • Leadership experience pertaining to Emergent Bilinguals

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Implement procedures and coordination of the identification placement services monitoring and exiting from the bilingual/dual language/ESL education program process including review of student data and student testing
  • Compiles maintains and stores all physical and digital reports records and documents required
  • Complies with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local policy of Denton ISD
  • Works with campuses to ensure that all digital documentation of LPAC meetings and student folders are in compliance
  • Audits bilingual/ESL LPAC records for accuracy
  • Assists administrators and teachers to provide emergent bilinguals with appropriate courses by identifying the level of language acquisition and ensuring linguistic accommodations are documented through the LPAC process
  • Promotes involvement and understanding of the ESL/Bilingual programs for the purpose of meeting the ongoing needs of and encouraging participation in the ESL/Bilingual programs and related course offerings
  • Assists with the coordination of services and articulation between the secondary and elementary levels of the instructional program by communicating frequently with directors supervisors and principals on a regular basis
  • Develops conducts and/or arranges staff development sessions on the LPAC process
  • Assists to collect and analyze data particularly state assessments regarding the achievement of students and other pertinent information affecting the design and implementation of services and programs using the information to recommend new programs and modifications to existing programs. Share with staff the results of state and other assessments

  • Develops and coordinates an ongoing evaluation of the bilingual/ESL program for the purpose of ensuring that student needs are met while maintaining program and federal state and district guidelines
  • Communicates effectively with administrators teachers students parents and community about the emergent bilinguals programs goals expectations and initiatives
  • Plans and conducts parent meetings including parent advisory committee and LPAC review meetings
  • Works synergistically with other team members central staff and campus-based staff
  • Performs other functions that may be assigned by the director

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.

APPOINTMENT: The appointment of this position will be recommended to the Board of Trustees by the Superintendent of Schools on the basis of the applicants training experience and expertise. The Board of Trustees must give final approval.
