POSITION:Para Educator- Level I
REPORTS TO:Building Principal
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Provide small group instruction to at-risk students. Supervise students during recess and lunch times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Associate of Arts Degree 2 years of college credits or Para Educator Praxis
ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice. Depending upon individual assignments the office aide will perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Ability to maintain a student centered organized positive climate
- Ability to read write and communicate effectively
- Communicate and respond effectively and in a friendly professional manner with students parents community members and school personnel.
- Ability to accept responsibility and take direction
- Work collaboratively and collegially.
- Comply with district rules and regulations.
- Conduct all work in a safe manner as specified by district rules.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to plan instruct and supervise secondary age students
- Ability to work one-on-one or in a small group with highly at-risk middle/high school students.
- Ability to provide support assistance and give specific instruction under the direction of a certified teacher.
- Skilled at record keeping and computers.
- Monitor students both in and out the classroom.

- Work independently

STATE/DISTRICT MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED card or ability to attain one
- Fingerprinting (paid by employee)
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1-1-57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform Act
- HIV/HBV Training (district provided)
- Sexual Harassment Training (district provided)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 180 Days per year
- 6 Hours per day
