The Assistant Track Coach serves under the direction and supervision of the Head Track Coach and the Athletic Director. This person will be responsible for assisting in the planning organizing and directing of thetrack program as well as manage the conduct of athletes in the locker room at practices and team functions on the bus and at games. Independent judgment and decision-making are required in many matters not having established rules regulations policies or precedent. All coaches must complete staff training on Child Abuse Identification and Prevention in Oregon Schools; Sexual Misconduct Staff-to-Student; and Bullying Prevention in Oregon Schools. Trainings in Coaching Fundamentals Concussion Management and Steroid Education are also required. All coaching contracts are issued on a year-to-year basis.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Must be willing to be fingerprinted for a criminal history records check;
- Possess or be able to obtain a current first aid card (first aid card is required);
- Knowledge and ability to help build and maintain a quality track program;
- Communicate effectively and maintain professional rapport with students staff parents and patrons;
- Ability to work with high school age athletes and establish a priority for good sportsmanship;
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality;
- Must know understand and adhere to district policy and school expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
- Ability to plan and lead practice sessions in a variety of competitive disciplines;
- Responsible for equipment issue and care of equipment;
- Ability to provide athletes with proper conditioning and ability to prevent and treat injuries.
- Minimum of one-year competitive track (high school or higher) and/or coaching;
- Willingness to support and participate in fundraising activities.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance to the middle school track program.
