New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement up to aten-year maximum

New Hire Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Job Summary:

To assist the Assistant Principal with the organization of the after school discipline program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks(e.g. typing filing copying scheduling etc)following standardized procedures in support of assigned personnel
  • Prepare instructional materials and documentsfor teachersfollowing established guidelines
  • Assist in the daily recording and maintenance of student attendance records to ensurereliable data for district state and federal reporting purposes
  • Assist in process the registration of new students and withdrawalof students to provide reliable data for district state and federal reporting purposes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools

Required Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Bilingual English/Spanish helpful
  • Prior clerical or administrative work is beneficial

Skills & Competencies:

  • Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate
  • Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name served by strength and need and graduates ready for college career and community
  • Moderate proficiency in typing with good accuracy; average test battery
  • Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word Excel etc)
  • Ability to operate general office machines and equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students parents/guardians district employees and public
  • Ability to take initiative and to work with constant interruptions

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Assisting administrators answering calls and managing records
  • Tracking student absences and tardiness
  • Helping with student scheduling and records
  • Sitting for extended periods while working at a desk or computer
  • Standing and walking occasionally to assist students teachers or staff
  • Light lifting (10-20 lbs.) for carrying office supplies books or files
