The Opportunity
The South Bow Project Services team is continuing to evolve its digital and analytical capabilities to better support project delivery financial performance and continuous improvement. This role provides a strong opportunity for a Computer Science student to gain handson experience applying software development data analytics and systems integration skills within a realworld capital projects environment. The successful candidate will contribute directly to improving core Project Services tools and processes including forecasting project authorization reporting automation and enterprise system integration. This role will report to the Manager of Project Services.
- The targeted start date for this work experience opportunity is May 2026.
- This is a four-month (MayAugust) summer student opportunity.
- Role is based in Calgary Alberta.
What youll do
- Support the improvement and integration of the Decision Summary (Dec Sum) and Project AFE creation tools to improve usability data quality traceability and efficiency.
- Assist with streamlining project pathway and project selection criteria including supporting logic data structures and documentation.
- Help automate project controls reporting and analysis including the collection calculation and analysis of forecast accuracy metrics such as WAPE and cost variances.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends variances and opportunities to enhance forecasting accuracy and financial performance.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in Omega and D365 integration including data flow validation and reporting alignment.
- Support enhancements to project reporting sophistication with a focus on making reporting faster more streamlined and more consistent across the portfolio.
- Assist with developing dashboards analytics and visualizations to support Project Reporting.
- Document processes tools and enhancements to support sustainability and knowledge transfer within the team.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers Project Controllers and Finance stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field.
- Enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning for at least one additional semester after the work term.
- Experience or coursework in software development data analytics or systems integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data analysis data modeling and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI AI Agents or equivalent).
- Familiarity with enterprise systems databases or ERP platforms (e.g. SAP D365) considered an asset.
- Strong interest in applying technical skills to business finance and project delivery challenges.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work with structured and unstructured data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Our Work Model
Work out of our downtown office location 5 days a week with flexible dress code for eligible office-based roles.
