The Opportunity
In this four-month placement the Supply Chain Summer Student will support procurement and contracting activities as well as initiatives to improve data quality and system integrity that enable safe and efficient pipeline operations. The role includes assisting with requirements gathering sourcing contract drafting commercial analysis purchase order issuance and support for accurate and timely payment.
This position provides hands-on exposure to supply chain operations in a pipeline environment and is ideal for students interested in pipeline or oil and gas operations maintenance supply chains and field-facing procurement. The successful candidate will gain experience across materials services IT construction projects operations and professional services and develop sound judgment around commercial and legal considerations.
What Youll Do
- Support the conversion of purchase requisitions into purchase orders and contribute to managing the PO lifecycle.
- Assist in contract development negotiation support execution and release order issuance.
- Support development and standardization of contract templates sourcing materials and qualification questionnaires.
- Review validate and improve data within procurement and contract management systems.
- Support with RFx strategy preparation evaluation and award recommendations for services and materials.
- Support the drafting analysis and modification of contract types including Material terms and conditions; Service agreements; IT and software contracts; Master Service Agreements (MSAs).
- Ensure contract documentation meets organizational quality and compliance standards
- Support communication and alignment between Supply Chain key internal stakeholders and vendor representatives.
- Manage timelines and deliverables with strong communication and follow-through.
- Contribute to procurement and contracting activities while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Handle a high volume of procurement and contracting activities while maintaining quality accuracy and cycle-time targets.
- Uphold company policies sourcing methodologies and compliance requirements.
- Support resolution of invoicing and payment issues as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program focused on Supply Chain Management Business Project Management Law or related fields is required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel etc.) (Power BI SharePoint etc. is considered an asset.)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in pipeline operations maintenance or industrial supply chains
- Familiarity with ERP and CMS systems (e.g. D365 Ivalua etc.)
- Previous co-op internship or relevant work experience.
