Our client is a wellestablished Vancouverbased law firm seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its collections and foreclosure litigation group on a 12 to 18month contract basis. This role supports a busy practice and offers exposure to a high volume of sophisticated foreclosure matters working closely with lawyers and internal stakeholders.
General Accountability
The Litigation Paralegal will support the collections and foreclosure litigation group in all aspects of its practice including file management drafting documentation preparing client correspondence managing foreclosure matters and providing additional administrative and practice support as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage foreclosure files from initiation to completion including drafting documents court processes and correspondence with clients and mortgagors
- Handle a high volume of foreclosure matters with accuracy efficiency and attention to detail
- Respond to client and mortgagor inquiries in a timely professional and courteous manner
- Prepare draft litigation documents for lawyer review
- Identify issues requiring lawyer involvement and escalate appropriately
- Provide general litigation and administrative support to the practice group as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
- Previous experience in collections or foreclosure is strongly preferred
- Certificate or diploma from an accredited Paralegal program
- Working knowledge of the British Columbia Supreme Court Civil Rules
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a professional and mature approach
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Selfmotivated team player who can work independently and take initiative
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Word and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with iPro is considered an asset
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime when required
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $90000 to $100000 annually depending on experience qualifications and market considerations.
