The Department of Chemistry at the University of Akron ( invites
applications for Two (non-tenure track) Assistant Professor position starting in August 2026.
Required Qualifications: This position requires a Ph.D. in Physics or closely-related fields.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
The mission of the Department of Chemistry is to provide high quality undergraduate education through
community-engaged teaching research and service. (Physics faculty are members of the Chemistry
Department). As an urban research university The University of Akron strives to deliver applied and
community-connected educational experiences. Therefore we invite applicants to demonstrate in their
application materials how they can contribute through their teaching and community-engaged service to these ongoing efforts. We are particularly interested in scholars whose work touches on the pressing needs of our local industries
Additional Position Information:
Teaching Expectations: Successful candidates will be able to teach both algebra and calculus-based introductory physics courses as well as physics courses for non-science majors.
Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
