Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Environmental Aide supports the Dietary Department at Trinity Homes by ensuring kitchen and food service areas remain clean organized and sanitary to support safe and efficient meal service. This role assists with dishwashing food service activities and routine stocking while working closely with dietary and environmental services team members to maintain smooth daily operations. The Environmental Aide contributes to a safe well-maintained work environment by performing general cleaning tasks and consistently following infection-prevention and sanitation standards. As part of a supportive and collaborative team this position plays an important role in promoting a positive dining experience for residents and maintaining a dependable well-coordinated care environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform dishwashing and cleaning tasks in accordance with dietary sanitation procedures to ensure safe and efficient meal service.
  • Stock food supplies and equipment in kitchen and storeroom areas maintaining organized and accessible inventory levels.
  • Assist food service staff with basic meal preparation and delivery activities as assigned to support timely resident meal service.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen surfaces floors equipment and storage areas to uphold infection-prevention and safety standards.
  • Dispose of waste recyclables and food debris using established protocols to maintain a clean and hazard-free environment.
  • Communicate effectively with dietary team members to support daily workflow and respond to departmental needs.

Educational Requirements:
  • Able to read and write English.
  • Able to follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • 16 years of age or older.

Physical Requirements:

The Environmental Aide frequently stands walks bends and reaches while completing cleaning and food service tasks. The role requires the ability to lift carry and move supplies dish racks and waste containers often of moderate weight. Adequate vision hearing and manual dexterity are needed to safely handle equipment read labels and operate dishwashing and sanitation tools.

Environmental Requirements:

Work is performed primarily in a long-term care kitchen and dietary environment with routine exposure to heat humidity cleaning chemicals and food-service equipment. The role may involve slippery surfaces noise from dishwashing equipment and interaction with staff and residents in dining and service areas. Compliance with safety procedures proper PPE use and infection-control practices is essential to maintain a sanitary and safe work setting.
