Job Summary
Pit Orchestra Conductor
Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School is seeking a skilled and collaborative Pit Orchestra Conductor for its spring production of The Sound of Music. This individual will serve as the primary musical leader for the pit orchestra working closely with the director vocalists and student musicians to deliver a high-quality theatrical performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct the pit orchestra during technical rehearsals and performances
- Collaborate with the stage director music director and choreographer to ensure cohesive musical interpretation
- Prepare and rehearse vocal parts with cast members as needed
- Lead pit orchestra rehearsals including coordination with student instrumentalists
- Ensure proper tempo balance and synchronization with onstage action
- Attend and actively participate in all required rehearsals and performances
Schedule Requirements
- Rehearsals: Flexible scheduling in coordination with the production team (primarily evenings and/or after school)
- Tech Week (Required): April 18 April
Performance Dates (Required): April 24 25 and 26 2026
