We are seeking an enthusiastic organised and student-focused Librarian to join an ambitious secondary school in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about reading literacy and independent learning and who wants to play a central role in supporting students academic and personal development. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day running of the school library and help create a welcoming purposeful space that encourages reading for pleasure research study and curiosity.

As Librarian you will oversee the issue and return of resources maintain library systems and displays support reading programmes and encourage students to make full use of the space and its resources. You may also organise events reading promotions and themed activities that help foster a strong reading culture across the school. This is a role that combines administration student interaction and educational support making it ideal for someone who enjoys both organisation and meaningful engagement with young people.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day running of the school library
Maintain and organise the library stock catalogue and systems
Support students in choosing books and accessing learning resources
Promote reading for pleasure and literacy across the school
Create engaging displays and reading initiatives
Support students with research and independent study skills
Work with staff to develop library use across subject areas
Organise events activities and promotions linked to reading and literacy
Maintain a welcoming calm and purposeful learning environment
Monitor usage and help ensure resources meet student needs

Requirements:
Experience working in a library school or educational setting is desirable
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Genuine enthusiasm for reading literacy and student development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to engage positively with secondary-aged students
Good IT skills and confidence using library or database systems
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Commitment to inclusion student wellbeing and high standards
A relevant qualification or background in library education or literacy work would be advantageous
