We are looking to appoint an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join an ambitious and growing secondary school in Colchester. This is a senior role within the school offering the opportunity to contribute significantly to its operational success and long-term development.
The successful candidate will lead on the management of finance HR administration and site operations ensuring that all aspects of the schools business functions run efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team providing expert advice and supporting strategic decision-making.
This role requires a highly organised and commercially aware individual who is able to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational management. You will be responsible for ensuring that resources are used effectively to support teaching and learning and that the school remains compliant with all relevant regulations and procedures.
As SBM you will also line manage administrative and support staff oversee budgeting and financial planning and ensure that systems and processes are robust and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead financial planning budgeting and reporting
Oversee HR processes including recruitment and staff management
Manage school operations facilities and services
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements
Support strategic planning and decision-making
Line manage administrative and support staff
Requirements:
Relevant qualification in business finance or management
Experience in a senior operational or leadership role
Strong financial and organisational skills
Excellent leadership and communication abilities
Ability to work strategically and operationally
Experience in a school setting (desirable)
