Overview:
- The Business Project Consultant is a versatile and analytical professional who brings structure clarity and momentum to digital and technology initiatives. They are skilled at coordinating teams managing timelines and ensuring that project activities stay aligned with organizational priorities.
- With strong communication abilities and a solid grasp of modern delivery practices they help senior leaders move initiatives forward by providing reliable oversight thorough documentation and consistent follow through. This position reports directly to the Director General Digital Enablement and Innovation.
Day to Day job Duties:
- Contribute to shaping project charters defining objectives and establishing governance and reporting expectations.
- Develop detailed work plans that outline schedules milestones dependencies and required resources.
- Track day to day progress identify emerging issues and support timely resolution of risks and blockers.
- Produce clear and concise updates dashboards and summaries for leadership and project partners.
- Coordinate communication across teams by organizing meetings documenting decisions and monitoring action items.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure resources are assigned appropriately and remain engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Measure progress against defined outcomes performance indicators and delivery commitments.
- Assist with financial oversight by preparing cost projections monitoring expenditures and maintaining budget documentation.
- Support risk management activities including identifying potential challenges and contributing to mitigation strategies.
- Lead or assist with initiatives involving enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow collaborating with technical teams and business groups.
- Apply the appropriate delivery methodology-Agile Waterfall or Hybrid-based on project needs and organizational standards.
- Maintain accurate and up to date schedules resource plans and project documentation.
- Provide coordination and analytical support to senior leaders to help advance strategic priorities.
- Use Microsoft Office tools (Project SharePoint Excel PowerPoint Teams) to support reporting collaboration and documentation.
- Use data and analytical tools to assess project performance and support decision making.
Basic Qualifications:
- Resides in the National Capital Region and able to work on site three days per week (Ottawa/Gatineau).
- At least 7 years of experience managing or supporting complex IT or digital transformation projects.
- Minimum 3 years of experience acting as an Intermediate Project Manager on at least three IM/IT initiatives within the past five years.
- At least 3 years of hands on experience delivering projects using Agile approaches (Scrum SAFe etc.).
- Minimum 3 years of experience using Microsoft project management tools including MS Project SharePoint Excel PowerPoint Teams and Outlook.
- Holds a PMP certification or has completed recognized university level project management coursework.
- Possesses a University Degree or College/CEGEP Diploma in Business Administration Computer Science Information Technology Project Management or a related field.
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting or managing initiatives involving the ServiceNow platform.
- Previous work experience within the Federal Government or Crown Corporations.
- Ability to work in both English and French.
- Additional certifications such as PRINCE2 Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or ServiceNow credentials
