SUMMARY:
The Facility Direct Collections Specialist performs collections functions for unpaid and/or delinquent customer account balances initiating appropriate action and maintaining accurate records & documentation.
Strong grammatical structure skills needed to draft business correspondence. Fluency with Microsoft Office Products with emphasis using Excel. Ability to self-direct priorities and tasks. Prior healthcare business office or collection experience required. Accounts Receivable experience a plus.
IN THIS ROLE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Review status of delinquent accounts and initiate collection action to resolve unpaid balances.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining customer past due accounts Making outbound collection calls to delinquent accounts account adjustments small balance write off customer reconciliations processing credit memos unapplied cash resolution and cash posting.
- Generate and mail or email statements to customers as required.
- Responsible for obtaining and tracking purchase orders.
- Responsible for obtaining and tracking tax exempt certificates for our customers.
- Responsible for updating and adding customer information as necessary in appropriate system.
- Must communicate and follow up effectively with sales department regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
- Ability to prioritize competing priorities.
- Maintain productivity standards based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Provide process improvement ideas and feedback to management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
- Must have an overall knowledge of the healthcare industry.
- Prior collection experience with a banking and accounting background.
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to research transactions and determine corrective actions/appropriate solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers in an effective and professional manner.
