MalaceHR is seeking a Facility Maintenance Assistant / Facilities Support professional to support operations within a life sciences facility. This role is critical to ensuring the building operates safely efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will assist with daily facility operations perform routine inspections support laboratory environments and help maintain a clean organized and fully functional workspace for research and administrative teams.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Perform daily facility rounds across laboratories offices kitchens conference rooms and common areas
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness organization and proper building functionality
- Assist with preventive maintenance on HVAC plumbing mechanical and life safety systems
- Perform minor repairs including lighting replacements and basic equipment adjustments
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature and air quality
Laboratory & Technical Support
- Conduct scheduled lab rounds to identify and report facility-related issues
- Support lab operations by ensuring facility systems meet operational requirements
- Assist with maintaining compliance within a regulated life sciences environment
Work Orders & Systems
- Respond to service requests and complete work orders using CMMS (Blue Mountain preferred)
- Document findings track issues and communicate updates effectively
General Facility Support
- Clean maintain and restock common areas (kitchenettes breakrooms shared spaces)
- Assist with conference room setup/breakdown and site events
- Support furniture assembly office moves and workspace setups
- Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with ordering materials
Inspections & Compliance
- Conduct safety shower inspections (60 locations)
- Perform fire extinguisher inspections (50 locations)
- Check emergency blue light phones for functionality
- Monitor AHUs (Air Handling Units) and Exhaust Fans
- Assist during audits inspections or emergency situations
Future/Expanded Responsibilities
- Inspect kitchenette areas for safety and maintenance needs
- Perform conference room walkthroughs to identify issues
- Support additional facility upkeep initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma GED or equivalent
- Experience with CMMS or work order systems
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to perform general maintenance tasks in commercial or lab environments
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical rooms/storage areas
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience in life sciences laboratory or regulated environments
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Prior experience performing lab rounds or supporting lab operations
