Job Purpose

To provide sustainable finance structuring and advisory services to clients to assist clients in achieving their strategic goals and to maximise sustainable revenue streams for Nedbank in targeted South African and international sectors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships by formal and informal engagements (meetings; phone calls).
  • Build and maintain working relationships by attending team and relevant forum meetings and through collaboration.
  • Run feasibility analysis research and employ creative and innovative thinking and structuring to identify the appropriate solution formulate appropriate pricing for proposals and structure services and scope into mandates in a manner that is value enhancing for the franchise
  • Ensure relevant continuous pitching to target clients by identifying the target clients needs; develop the appropriate pitch and present to relevant stakeholders.
  • Originate transactions by scanning the market; marketing and pitching ideas and networking
  • Execute transactions by advising / structuring analysing negotiating co-ordinating pitching engaging with stakeholders and obtaining relevant approvals
  • Be a dealmaker and originate structure and execute innovative groundbreaking deals which advance sustainability objectives
  • Build sound client and other relevant external relationships by clear communication; regular meetings and setting clear objectives and timelines.
  • Support the achievement of the business strategy; objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems; process; services and solutions are aligned.
  • Collaborate with the respective teams internally to embed sustainability advisory services into client proposition and in accordance with agreed strategy.
  • Carry out and ensure the relevant services are implemented.
  • Formulate responses to Requests for Proposals issued by clients as relevant.
  • Prepare material and present at relevant internal governance committees as necessary
  • Work closely with internal teams across the bank to deliver and position client pitches and advisory solutions.
  • Evaluate progress in line with set objectives and timelines by scheduling and leading progress meetings; following up on deliverables; scheduling review meetings with client and formulating write ups for internal and external discussion.
  • Ensure timeous submission of client proposals and internal submissions by effectively planning (setting deliverables; expectations and timelines); early engagement and following up stakeholders on deliverables; delegating and assisting in deal implementation across various aspects of the transaction
  • Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed; experience practiced and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames
  • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (eg. Operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (eg. Staff surveys etc.)
  • Manage conflicting situations by identifying and analysingi theproblem; develop appropriate solutions and take corrective actions.
  • Originate new transactions or clients for the bank by regular interaction through collaboration with key stakeholders via referrals and networking.

  • Oversee and manage transactions in a cost-effective manner by conducting cost benefit analysis of various execution strategies.
  • Enable skilling and required corrective action to take place by sharing knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
  • Ensure compliance by adhering to rules from the regulator; policies and procedures and executing on the mandate.
  • Manage costs and contribute to Business Unit cost efficiency by operating within the allocated budget
  • Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
  • Resolve work obstacles by lobbying and one on one engagements with relevant stakeholders.
  • Build professional relationships by networking. Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.).
  • Maintain and build existing and on-board market share by applying your professional skills.
  • Support the achievement of the business strategy; objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plans and ensuring delivered systems; process; services and solutions are aligned.
  • Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
  • Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified time frame.
  • Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
  • Contribute to developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Professional Qualifications/Honours Degree

Preferred Qualification

Chartered Accountant (SA) Chartered Financial Analyst Chartered Institute of Management Accountants MBA Masters in Finance Business Science (Finance Economics) ESG or Sustainability certification or qualification LLB

Minimum Experience Level

Minimum of 8 years in Investment Banking and/or Corporate Finance or client facing environment
