ESTATES OFFICE

Senior Manager (Special Projects) ()

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates (Special Projects) the Senior Manager will lead a team of building professionals tomanage a wide range of campus development projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage project implementation for the Universitys capital and non-capital projects and alteration addition and improvement works including design project and contract management construction administration quality control and handover to the users;
  • Formulate Campus Master Plan and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement to the physical environment of the University for meeting the growing demand of teaching learning and research throughUGC and private funding by:
    • Major Capital Works;
    • Alterations Additions and Improvement Works (AA&I);
    • Small-scale campus enhancement works;
  • Support academic and non-academic units of the University on space related matters by providing in-house space planning conceptual design feasibility studies anddesign presentations including the preparation of drawings renderings data visualisation specifications tender documents and other project control documents for in-house campus projects;
  • Manage the space inventory and smart space management system of the Universitys campuses;
  • Liaise with end-user departments to identify and address their spatial needs and ensure effective project delivery and with minimal disruption to University operations;
  • Represent the Estates Office to coordinate with internal University departments as well aslead and manage a multidisciplinary team of external consultants and internal project managers to deliver performance ensuring projects meet time cost quality sustainability and safety targets;
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to team members supporting them through all project stagesfrom feasibility studies and procurement to completion of construction;
  • Oversee coordination with the Cost and Contract Management Section and other departments regarding procurement contracts and budget matters;
  • Assist in identifying potential project risks and support the development of contingency plans and mitigation measures; and
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Director of Estatesthe Associate Director of Estates (Project Management and Development Planning) and the Assistant Director of Estates (Special Projects).

Requirements:

  • A recognised professional degreein Architecture witha minimum of 8 years of relevant post-qualification work experience;
  • A Registered Architect (HK) and full member of HKIA;
  • Authorised Person qualification will be an advantage;
  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese and proficiency in computer applications including AutoCAD Photoshop and SketchUp with Revit being an advantage; and
  • The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic and changing environment with a service-orientated mindset and positive manner to communicate with others.

Shortlisted candidates are required to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
