Reports to: Director of Religious Education (DRE)

Work Schedule: 30 Hours per Week

Sunday-Thursday including weekends and evenings and schedule can be altered according to the needs of the parish


Summary:

The Life-Teen and Edge Coordinator is responsible for implementation of the parish catechetical program(s) for the Middle School/High School Youth. This position will work with the Director of Religious Education (DRE) to ensure a well-rounded program for Middle & High School youth to allow the youth of St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church-San Antonio to grow spiritually and personally. This position will also perform administrative duties related to the Faith Formation Program and will maintain files and records of students and parent volunteers. Life-Teen and Edge Coordinator will also connect the parents and families in the program to the larger parish community.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Organizes schedules and coordinates the faith formation for a particular level or group or assists with this task. This will include Edge and Life-Teen Teens ACTS and confirmation.
  • Assists with preparations for retreats and coordinating effort during retreats.
  • Orders or assists in ordering textbooks teaching materials resources for the program and renewing applicable subscriptions as necessary.
  • Prepares or offers input on an annual budget and monthly grade level activities and updates.
  • Assists with a yearly calendar for the program and Faith Formation Commission and assists in compiling yearly parish master calendar.
  • Supervises assigned grade levels or groups in the Faith Formation program.
  • Recruits or assists with eliciting catechists and volunteers for assigned levels or groups.
  • Supervises or assists with appropriate in-service training and formation of catechists.
  • Advises and visits with students parents/guardians catechists if problems or concerns arise.
  • Prepares or assists with liturgical celebrations for students and families.
  • Prepares and coordinates with the pastor/pastoral administrator sacramental rites for students.
  • Collaborates with DRE to insure integration the total faith formation plan for the parish.
  • Meets as needed with pastoral staff for planning and integration of Religious Education programs as required by Pastor.
  • Coordinates preparation of the weekly bulletin section for Junior High & High School Faith Formation.
  • Maintains constant communication with Faith Formation families.
  • Maintains and assists with sacramental records notifications and certificates on parish grounds per Diocese guidelines.
  • Coordinates with Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure all catechists and volunteers are in good standing with Archdiocese safe environments programs
  • Maintains continuous education and training in the faith as approved by DRE.
  • Adheres to Archdiocese Code of Conduct and safe environment mandates.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.

  • Assist with Parish soft registration process.
  • Assist with other Faith Formation events as assigned.
  • Any other duties assigned by priest or parochial vicar or DRE.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent or higher
  • Experience
    • Minimum 1 to 2 years of previous experience in working in parish setting with:
      • Middle school to High school age ministry
      • Experience in leading planning faith-based retreats.
  • License and Credentials
    • Reliable transportation
    • Valid driver license
    • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Minimum Knowledge Abilities and Skills:
    • Must be Roman Catholic in good standing with the church and be willing to learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church.
    • Should be experienced with MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
    • Should be optimistic and enthusiastic in their approach towards being an apostle of Jesus Christ excellent interpersonal written and oral communication leadership and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to work flexible hours to include assisting with gatherings and events on evenings and weekends.
    • Complete a safe environment course and pass criminal background check
    • Ability to resolve and reduce conflict.
    • Must have strong organizational and customer service skills and ability to resolve and reduce conflict.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 10% overnight.


Physical Requirements:

  • The position constantly (2/3 or more of the time) requires the ability to hear.
  • The position frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) requires: Lifting up to 25 pounds sitting walking balancing reaching below shoulder height pushing pulling talking crawling.
  • This position occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time) requires: bending at the waist squatting repetitive motions reaching above shoulder height driving and stooping.
  • This position rarely (less than one hour per week) requires: running climbing and crawling.
