Job Summary

The Solar Technician is responsible for the installation maintenance and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems powering Eja-Ice cold chain infrastructure. The technician will ensure reliable energy supply for cold rooms refrigeration systems and solar-powered cooling equipment in both urban and remote locations.

Key Responsibilities

Solar System Installation

• Install solar panels mounting structures and wiring systems.
• Install inverters charge controllers and battery storage systems.
• Support installation of solar-powered cold rooms and freezers.

System Testing & Commissioning

• Conduct system checks after installation.
• Verify electrical connections and system performance.
• Ensure solar systems operate safely and efficiently.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform routine maintenance on solar PV systems.
• Clean solar panels and inspect mounting structures.
• Diagnose and repair faults in solar panels inverters batteries and wiring.

Monitoring & Performance Checks

• Monitor solar power output and battery performance.
• Identify energy losses or system inefficiencies.
• Support energy monitoring tools used in cold chain operations.

Field Support

• Assist engineers with cold room and solar system deployments.
• Travel to community cold chain hubs to conduct repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain service logs and technical reports.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certification in:
• • Electrical Engineering
  • Solar PV Installation
  • Renewable Energy Technology
• Certification in solar PV installation or electrical systems is an advantage.

Experience

• 24 years experience in:
• • Solar PV installation
  • Electrical wiring and troubleshooting
  • Off-grid solar systems

Technical Skills

• Solar panel installation and mounting
• Inverter and battery system installation
• Electrical wiring and grounding
• Solar system troubleshooting
• Basic electrical safety procedures

Preferred Experience

• Solar systems powering refrigeration or cold storage equipment.
• Experience working in rural or off-grid environments.
• Familiarity with battery storage systems (lithium-ion or deep-cycle batteries).
