Job Summary

Position:Information Security Student Intern

Department: Finance & Administrative Services

Type of Position: Part-time Temporary

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule Hours per week: Monday-Friday 10 hours per week

Starting Salary Range: $15.34

Position Summary: The Information Security Student Intern supports JCCC by being responsible for assisting the IT Security Officer with many components of the institutions information security program. The Intern will primarily be responsible for supporting IT Security staff on a variety of security projects including Network Security Monitoring IT Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Security Program Development Identity Management (IdM) Application Assessments and targeted research to support active security initiatives. The core requirement is a commitment to learning about and an eagerness to participate in projects related to information security. Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be available 10 hours each week.
  • Must be a JCCC full-time student in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Maintain good (digital) citizenship.
  • Must uphold enforce and abide by all institutional policies.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Preference given to students enrolled in the Cybersecurity Certificate program within the Computer Science & Information Technology department.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identity & Access Management (IAM) Respond to support tickets related to identity issues (password resets risk-based behavior account creation/modification/deletion).
  • Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) / Policy Management Review and update documentation for policies procedures standards and guidelines. Participate in creating and maintaining organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Security Communications & Awareness Assist with deployment and upkeep of the information security departments website content. Contribute to maintaining IT Security presence across web and social platforms.
  • Security Operations & Offensive Security (Red Team) Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of applications services networks and servers. Act as a member of the Red Team to identify monitor mitigate and respond to security vulnerabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned
