DESCRIPTION:
Join our Purchasing and Planning team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and help advance excellence in our supply chain operations. As a Purchasing Officer youll contribute to ensuring optimal inventory levels and supplier performance while supporting our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier cleaner and safer. Youll manage Purchasing and Procurement activities for a portfolio of products and suppliers implementing inventory plans and purchase order processes to optimize customer satisfaction service levels and inventory investment. This role offers opportunities to enhance continuous improvement develop supplier relationships and contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives across our organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree no prior experience required; experience in Purchasing and procurement or supply chain in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred
Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management Business Administration Operations or related field
Professional certification (CIPS APICS CSCP) preferred
Proficient in ERP systems (SAP Oracle JD Edwards) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities to manage large volumes of data
Experience with inventory management systems and methodologies
Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (PPI Lean)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Knowledge of procurement best practices and industry standards
Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements preferred
