JOB TITLE: One (1) Summer Intern

SUMMARY:
The Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City governments chief financial agency. OMBs staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayors expense and capital budgets which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
Value Engineering (VE) is a systematic and structured peer review directed towards analyzing the functions of projects and programs to help them strike a balance between function performance quality safety and cost. The OMB Value Engineering Unit offers VE resources to City Agencies to review and optimize major project designs and processes in order to achieve the best result for the City at the lowest lifecycle cost.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The intern will support two core workstreams. First they will assist with records management and archival organizing scanning and digitizing physical documents related to the Citys value engineering projects. This work is critical to preserving institutional knowledge and reducing the teams reliance on paper-based files. Second the intern will participate in park asset field surveys conducting on-site condition assessments and component measurements for park infrastructure. The intern will learn to apply standardized assessment criteria use field measurement tools and record findings that feed directly into the Citys asset inventory and maintenance planning processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
-Comfort with repetitive detail-oriented tasks (scanning filing data entry)
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
-Willingness to perform outdoor fieldwork across NYC
-Basic familiarity with Excel
-Interest in urban planning public infrastructure asset management or government operations
-Physical ability to walk stand and carry light field equipment for extended periods
-Prior coursework or experience in urban studies public administration environmental science engineering or a related field is a plus but not required
REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Strong analytical research and communications skills are required. Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university.
Compensation/Duration:
Summer Undergraduate Intern$17.50 per hour
Internships will run for 10 weeks from June 1 2026 to August 7 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. no evenings or weekends.

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
