SUMMARY:
The Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City governments chief financial agency. OMBs staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayors expense and capital budgets which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
OMBs Learning & Development (L&D) unit designs implements and communicates programs that help employees develop their skills perform effectively and grow in their careers. L&D collaborates with all divisions task forces and units within OMB.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The New York City Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) seeks a Technology & Process Improvement Intern to join our small L&D team.
High-impact role: Unlike typical internships youll work like full-time staff during our busiest season. Expect meaningful responsibilities supporting training programs that strengthen skills across 500 OMB employees with just our small core team.
Responsibilities:
-Use Excel/Microsoft 365 to track training data and metrics.
-Maintain tracking sheets/lists/dashboards for L&D programs.
-Support Power Automate workflow improvements (training provided).
-Streamline workflows and make processes more efficient.
-Document processes; create team guides/checklists.
-Assist with video editing workflows or media asset organization.
-Help with basic data analysis and reporting for learning activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred:
-Strong Excel Microsoft 365 proficiency (Outlook PowerPoint Teams).
-Technical curiosity; quick to learn new systems.
-Interest in making work faster/easier (streamlining workflows).
-Analytical mindset focused on data accuracy and efficiency.
-Basic web development or SharePoint skills.
-Strong interpersonal written/oral communication skills.
-Proactive with exceptional organizational research analytical and creative
Bonus:
-Video editing for training footage.
-Graphic design for process diagrams/visuals (Canva Figma).
-Keeping projects on track (juggling deadlines team coordination).
-HTML or basic coding.
-Data analytics tools (Power BI etc.).
-Prior SharePoint or Power Automate experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Strong analytical research and communications skills are required. Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university.
Compensation/Duration:
Summer Undergraduate Intern$17.50 per hour
Internships will run for 10 weeks from June 1 2026 to August 7 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. no evenings or weekends.

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
