As a Facility Structural Engineer and Cognizant System Engineer/Technical Authority (CSE/TA) for assigned structural systems you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the very foundations of our operations are robust and isnt a typical design position. While your expertise in structural design is a critical asset your day-to-day work centers on the enduring health and performance of our existing plant infrastructure some of which are under going significant redesigns. - Be the Technical Authority: As the CSE/TA for your assigned structural systems you will provide comprehensive technical oversight and accountability for their operability safety and maintenance throughout their lifecycle. This includes assessing system health and performance performing annual in-service inspections and developing and implementing preventative measures to maintain structural integrity. You will hold overall technical responsibility for all aspects of structural operability and maintenanceactivities ensuring strict compliance with relevant engineering practices codes and established safety authorization bases.
- Ensure Design Excellence and Maintain Integrity: Leverage your structural design experience to critically evaluate and interpret design changes and modifications ensuring all new projects and upgrades seamlessly integrate with our existing infrastructure and uphold rigorous safety standards guaranteeing that everystructural adjustment enhances rather than compromises our critical infrastructure. This involves understanding the nuances of how designs translate into real-world applications within a complexoperational environment.
- Develop Essential Technical Documentation and Specifications: You will be proficient with developingstructural drawings (plans sections and details) for various materials of construction (concrete steel masonry cold-formed steel) structural calculations equipment anchorage report preparation drafting (or oversight of drafting) and review of construction specifications (generally in the form of general notes on the drawings).
- Solve Complex Challenges: Tackle a diverse range of technical issues from conducting detailed building evaluations and seismic analyses for existing structures to ensuring modifications to structures meet Department of Energy (DOE) and industry code requirements. Youll apply established engineering practices codes and standards to devise innovative and practical solutions that keep our facilities operating safely and efficiently.
- Hands-On Engagement: Your work will involve a dynamic blend of office-based analysis and vital field engagement. Youll conduct regular in-service inspections thoroughly examining facilities to confirm their good condition and compliance with all requirements. This direct interaction with our physical infrastructure is essential to understanding its on going performance and identifying areas for improvement.

- Bachelors degree in engineering/science with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Masters degree in engineering/science with no experience
- PhD degree in engineering/science with no experience
DOE Order 426.2A Requirements
In addition to the above requirements the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. Baccalaureate in engineering or related science 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experienceor a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. - Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
- Bachelors degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
- OR aMasters degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
- OR a PhD in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
- There is a minimum GPA requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript
- Beyond four years from graduation engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
- Five or more years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Use and application of technical standards principles theories concepts and techniques
- Understanding of Conduct of Engineering Conduct of Operations and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment
- Ability to evaluate and provide feedback on new and proposed revisions to technical operating proceduresdesign drawings and requirements and facility systems structures and components
- Computer-aided design (CAD) or other 3D modeling experience
- Structural Modeling experience with STAAD Pro
- Must be able to make informed decisions and support those decisions to peers and senior management
