POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Specialist supports the CVA and CHS missions by supporting people through the full life-cycle of employment from recruitment through post-separation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Human Resources Specialist you will:

  • Protect the viability of continued operation by administering processes and maintaining records for legal and regulatory compliance while ensuring confidentiality
  • Advance healthy staffing ratios by screening interviewing and hiring qualified and competent staff who meet the positional requirements and the expectations of departmental leadership; aiding the Recruiting Specialists in recruiting initiatives and activities; working with HR Generalists in qualifying and screening applicants; collaborating with departmental leadership on the hiring and onboarding of staff per workforce planning goals and the expectations of departmental leadership; and analyzing the hiring and onboarding processes for trends which may impact our recruitment or retention goals reporting to HR leadership on the same
  • Coordinate and control the hiring process by conducting HR tasks including screening interviewing and hiring candidates in collaboration with the HR Recruiting Specialist HR Generalists Compensation and Benefits department HR Training Coordinator and relevant departmental leaders; conducting onboarding tasks in collaboration with the HR Trainer with accurate clear well-organized information; conducting data entry and related tasks in the applicant tracking system and maintaining a rolling audit of level of completion and the accuracy of HR related tasks and documents within the applicant tracking and employee information systems; and communicates the coordination with all relevant parties; and modeling and introducing company culture during the onboarding process and supporting initiatives of inclusion diversity equity and accessibility
  • Support the life-cycle of employment by collaborating with the HR Recruiting Specialist in participating in job fairs and other recruitment activities; completing HR tasks such as processing accurate I-9s through E-Verify and maintaining legally compliant documentation of the same; conducting background checks and other pre-screening activities to determine eligibility and conducting any post-hire HR screenings for employees which could impact their employment; responding to Division of Employment Security claims assisting employees in accomplishing employment related tasks; and preparing separation notices and related documents
  • Advance the competency of staff by onboarding and training with accurate clear well-organized information answering employee questions throughout employment advising employees in all matters of policy and procedures and providing support documents when requested; and advising and supporting supervisors and managers in the administration of corrective and other employee relations issues
  • Positively represent CVA and CHS by presenting internally and externally with professionalism demonstrating the CVA and CHS core values
  • Remove barriers to employee success by serving as a facilitator and liaison to knowledge services and supports both internal and external to the company as well as a mediator for the resolution of conflict.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Human Resources and Chief Officer of Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree (BA or BS) plus two years of HR experience or combination of educational and experience equal to six years.
  • Knowledge of Paycom platform preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to travel as required including overnight stays
  • Lift carry squat bend move push or pull sit or stand for long intermittent periods
  • Type on a keyboard for long periods
  • View a computer screen for long periods

SHIFT: FT (40 hrs/week) Mon-Fri: 8am-5pm
