Position Summary: Replacement Position

Thermo Fisher Scientific is now seeking to recruit a leader to lead its BID Commercial organization. This individual will be responsible for the overall management of the BID Commercial team which includes Direct Sales for BID working with customers apart from distributors and channel partners throughout India.

Provides measurable input into new products processes standards or operational plans in support of the organizations business strategies impacting business unit / function overall results includes management positions responsible for supervisory professional and/or support staff within business teams or sub-functions or through third-party vendors.

Impact


Influences those with both shared and divergent interests within the company function or matrix environment Internal or external client interaction is related to solutions of significant effect to the client. While accountable for shortterm (12 year) operational and tactical planning this leader will also play a significant role in shaping mid to longterm strategic direction. Focuses on execution and plans activities necessary to move from one major milestone to another. Decisions and recommendations have a significant short-term impact on the division group or corporate function. Leadership responsibilities include hiring developing and appraising staff and implementing staffing plans.

Establishes operating policies and procedures for segments of business units or functions or develops alternative tactics to address business needs. Analyzes complex issues and modifies existing methods in own work area


Exercises a high level of independent judgment and execution in anticipating interpreting evaluating and resolving complex multi-dimensional functional and/or complex organizational opportunities

In summary this individual should be a solid Commercial Leader bringing experience in a global matrix organization. S/he would champion his/her team in the global/country context and should bring excellent communication skills and a persistent aggressive leadership style to affect positive outcomes in alignment with the broader business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop creative flexible business approaches and solutions while maintaining full compliance with ethical business practice and applicable law.

Major Responsibilities

This individuals responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following specific responsibilities:
Implement the commercial strategies ensuring alignment with the global and country plans. Achieve the business and strategic objectives these must be competitive from both an Industry and regional perspective.
Identify and evaluate market opportunities for growth Engage in business development for emerging technologies or market segments
Ensure a financially sound operation with solid corporate governance and compliance for the BID business. Plan and manage the businesss budget appropriately.
Partner with other members of the management team globally and in the region to formulate cross-functional strategies.
Monitor market intelligence and keep abreast of competition; economics; and regulatory environment.
Lead a commercially-savvy team; hire motivate and retain staff to build a solid organization.
Actively participate as a member of the leadership team.


CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION: KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection Criteria


A minimum of 12-15 years experience ideally in the Med Tech/ Life Sciences/ Diagnostic industry in sales with a minimum of 5 years experience in a functional & People leadership role.


Experience in other technology-oriented sectors will also be considered in these cases the experience of having set-up integrated or significantly scaled a business in a high-growth environment will be considered critical.


Experience in running a business in India or a demonstrable understanding of India business practice in the Life Science industry. Familiarity with India government policy and funding practices with respect to the life sciences industry as well as an existing network of KOL and policy makers.


Experience in managing Channel & Business Partners.


An MBA would be preferred though may not be required for an exceptional candidate.

Critical Competencies for Success

General Management / Leadership Skills: The successful candidate will be required to run the South Asia business for Life Technologies in alignment with the global / regional strategic and business objectives by:

o Charting out and implementing the strategic and operational objectives for the South Asia organization in collaboration with other members from the senior management team.
o Bringing the ability to build alignment between the heads of the high-growth India market and key stakeholders in the global and regional headquarters.
o Constantly reviewing the competitive landscape for possible opportunities to acquire new businesses and capabilities as relevant for the medium to long term.
o Demonstrating the highest standards of good corporate governance and compliance.
o Bringing good people skills with the ability to work at all levels including third-party stakeholders i.e. distributors and partners.

Operational Skills: This individual will be required to deliver the annual revenue and profit goals on the South Asia entity in a significant scale-up situation and in an ambiguous environment by:
o Clearly charting out business objectives for individuals functions and the team.
o Measuring performance periodically in review meetings and reporting achievement ensuring alignment with financial goals.
o Bringing relationships / a network in the medical community as well as distributors.
o Role modeling a roll up the sleeves hands-on approach in a compact team.
